Andrey Antonov (1944-2011). Russian artist, born in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg), lived and worked in Yekaterinburg. Main media: sculpture, graphics, painting.
Andrey Antonov is the author of more than 500 easel and monumental sculptures installed in Russia and abroad. He graduated from the Higher School of Industrial Art (former Stroganov Academy) in Moscow. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Honored Artist of Russia.
The non-profit foundation for the promotion of culture and art was founded in the spring of 2011 (shortly before the death of Andrei Antonov), at the initiative of the artist, who was concerned about the fate of his many works. Ilya Sologub was appointed President of the Foundation. From March 2012 to March 2020, the foundation was actively engaged in exhibition, publishing and charitable activities.
Along with numerous exhibition, educational and charitable projects at the Antonov Gallery, the Foundation has carried out joint projects with the Union of Artists of Russia, the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg, the Yekaterinburg State Museum of Fine Arts, the Yekaterinburg Museum of Contemporary Art, the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art and other institutions.
